Planetary Talismanic Series · 2021–2023

The Seven Basics.

The Seven Basics consists of seven large-scale talismanic paintings, each dedicated to one of the classical planets — Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Drawing inspiration from the alchemical teachings of Paracelsus, each painting follows a ritualized process adapted from spagyric preparation into planetary form. Each work was begun under a precise astrological election, painted only on a planetary day corresponding to its ruling body, and activated through ceremonial invocations, incense, and sound.

Mischtechnik through the lunar cycle — casein in waxing phases, dark oils in waning, silver leaf to seal.

Malachite pigment, sealed in copper during the Venus–Moon conjunction in Taurus.

A 78-card tarot deck composed of oil paintings made under astrological timing — drawing from Hermeticism, astrological magic, ceremonial magic, and Kabbalah.

Each major arcana corresponds to a planetary or zodiacal force. Each minor arcana is keyed to the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and a distinct elemental process — the suits painted under the equinoxes and solstices.

Hi, I'm Amelia.

Originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi — I've made my home in Boulder, Colorado since 2012. I studied Studio Arts and Religious Studies at CU-Boulder, and I've spent the years since working at the meeting place of the two: oil painting infused with herbalism, alchemy, astrology, and ceremonial magic.

I describe my work as narrative art — telling a story through each painting. Beyond the studio, I read for clients in person and online, and I'm available for live painting and private lessons in the Front Range.
